The Arns-Shearin family started in earnest with the wedding of Peter John Arns & Mabelle Elizabeth Shearin in 1916. On this site, we will explore their families, and those of their 9 children, 61 grandchildren children, and some of their 127 great-grandchildren. In addition, we will also explore their kids spouses’ family histories: The Dougans, Walters, Odells, et al. And finally, we will look back to explore PJ’s German roots, and Mabelle’s Irish heritage!!
Learn more about PJ’s 1890s childhood in Wilmette, his father Judge Joseph Arns, his Mother Marie Jahnke, and Joseph’s arrival from Reil, Germany to Chicago, in 1867. The Arns Family goes back to at least 1639 in Reil, Germany where the Arns Family Wine business began, and is still Arns family run today as a vineyard, and a B&B!
